The National PTA provides funds to local groups for community arts project. Projects can focus on media, visual, literary or the performing arts. Projects should increase access for at-risk and underserved groups, as well as foster community and family involvement.

Prize: Matching grants up to $1,000 are available to local PTA groups.

2. Thank America’s Teachers Grants from Farmers Insurance

Deadline: February 27, 2017

Farmers Insurance provides grants to educators who received thank you notes through the Thank America’s Teachers program. Specifically, grants are available to “make technology more accessible, provide literacy materials, and support training.” Grant winners are selected by public voting, which takes place throughout the month of March.

Prize: There are 180 $2,500 grants are available.

3. Braitmayer Foundation Education Grants

Deadline: March 15, 2017

The Braitmayer Foundation provides grants to help deliver innovative practices in K-12 schools in the U.S. Grants can be used for curricular and school reform initiatives, as well as professional development and teacher retention programs. Grants can be used as seed funding, or as challenge or matching grants.

Prize: Grants are available up to $35,000.

4. Roots & Shoots Mini-Grant from the Jane Goodall Institute

Deadline: March 31

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program encourages students in the U.S. to launch or grow community-based service learning campaigns. The Roots & Shoots grants are available to help support these projects. Students submit their projects, and then can apply for funding. More information, as well as learning guides and project guidelines is available online.

Prize: Grants range from $200 to $500.

5. mKarma for Cara Youth Microgrants

Deadline: April 1, 2017

Launched in 2014, the foundation’s minigrant program offers small, one-time grants to students to help jump-start or sustain community service projects. A range of projects qualify for funding, including examples like rebuilding a school playground, or helping senior citizens prepare their homes for winter.

Prize: Grants range from $250 to $1,000.

6. IGT After School Advantage Grants

Deadline: Rolling

Since 1999, IGT has provided grants that support after-school programs for economically disadvantaged students. In particular, IGT focuses on digital initiatives, designed to close the digital divide, as well as technology for students. Prize: Funding for classroom materials and technology for after-school programs is available.

7. Eurasia Media Innovation Challenge

Deadline: 15 March 2017

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and the Media Diversity Institute (MDI) with selected partners and experts from the region will help talented local individuals, media, civil society representatives and others, to develop new ways to inform and engage audiences with entertaining, locally-relevant, high-quality content.

This program will offer grants between $5,000 and $100,000 to successful applicants who propose innovative and entertaining projects to provide quality news and information to Russian-speaking populations in Eurasia.

8. Competition for Seven Grants Unicredit & Universities Summer School Programme

Deadline:  15 March 2017

The grants are aimed at summer school sessions for a maximum of 3 weeks, between June and August 2017 according to the school calendars.

9. Call for Proposals: Black Sea Basin CBC “Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme 2014-2020”

Deadline of the 31st May 2017

These are to promote business and entrepreneurship within the Black Sea Basin and to promote coordination of environmental protection and joint reduction of marine litter in the Black Sea Basin.

10. Civil Society Scholar Awards

Deadline:  31 March 2017

The Civil Society Scholar Awards (CSSA) support international academic mobility to enable doctoral students and university faculty to access resources that enrich socially engaged research and critical scholarship in their home country or region.

The awards support activities such as fieldwork (data collection); research visits to libraries, archives, or universities; course/curriculum development; and international collaborations leading to peer-reviewed publication.

Civil Society Scholars are selected on the basis of their outstanding contributions to research or other engagement with local communities, to furthering debates on challenging societal questions, and to strengthening critical scholarship and academic networks within their fields.
