Savvas Learning Company, a leading provider of next-generation learning solutions across all K-12 grade levels and disciplines, recently announced that it has acquired Whooo’s Reading and its AI-driven technology that gives students adaptive feedback on their writing and reading skills and shows teachers where students may need extra support or personalized instruction, according to the press statement.

However, the company did not disclose the terms of the deal.

According to Savvas, the machine-learning technology behind Whooo’s Reading will be integrated into its portfolio of curriculum solutions “to provide teachers the next-generation of time-saving scoring tools, along with reports to help them better understand which skills their students are struggling with and mastering.”

Founded by Bethlam Forsa, Savvas is a global next-generation learning company that combines advanced technology with proven pedagogy to deliver immersive, personalized, and flexible educational solutions that connect K-12 teachers and students with real-world learning. Top authors and educators develop the platform. Its award-winning programs leverage data and advanced technology to deliver immersive, personalized, and flexible content that connects teachers and students with real-world learning experiences, helping all learners discover their greatness. Guided by a deep empathy for learners and educators and a drive to expand equity, the startup designs innovative learning solutions that are more customizable, adaptable, and relevant — improving every student’s chance to succeed in the classroom and life.

Commenting on the acquisition, Chief Executive Officer of Savvas Learning Company, Bethlam Forsa, said:

Artificial intelligence technology can transform K-12 education by dramatically helping to personalize the teaching and learning experience. The AI-driven technology supporting Whooo’s Reading is a great example. It gives students personalized and adaptive feedback on their writing and reading skills, empowering them to grow as learners. It also provides teachers with valuable insights into which skills their students need extra support with, allowing them to customize instruction.

Forsa further added:

We are excited to integrate this machine-learning technology into our portfolio of curriculum products to further support educators in providing advanced personalized learning for their students. This powerful AI-driven technology will enable Savvas to give teachers the next generation of time-saving scoring tools and reports to help them better understand which skills their students are struggling with and mastering.

Whooo’s Reading is passionate about helping students master reading, communication, and critical thinking skills needed to thrive in a dynamic world and supporting teachers in making magic happen in their classrooms daily. The platform focuses on creating formative assessments to encourage students to reflect, develop their independent thoughts, and communicate them. Providing creative formative assessments designed to engage students growing up in a multi-media world strives to ensure that students are excited to use WR every day.

CEO & President of Whooo’s Reading, Raphael Menko, commented:

We’re excited to be joining Savvas, which shares the company’s vision for investing in the development of AI technology to benefit students. Savvas is an innovative organization committed to creating high-quality personalized learning solutions. We’ve always wanted to impact more students. We’re thrilled now to be able to expand the reach of this incredible technology and move the millions of students who use Savvas products.

In March 2022, Savvas Learning Company had acquired Rubicon Publishing, Inc., the developer of Canada’s most widely used all-digital math program.
