This service known as “Epic!” that we are talking of is a subscription based ebook service for kids aged 2–12. Kids and parents can choose from more than 20,000 books, and they can read the books or watch videos online or offline, on the Web, or on mobile devices.

This service provides users with a library of books. After launching the app the first time, it requests users to enter their age, interests, email, and password to create a personalized library. Users then must enter in a birth year to show an adult is supervising them. Once verified, users have access to the Epic! library, and the library is organized by book recommendations, popularity, recently added, and by topic.

There are various book formats user can opt from. Users can tap the “All Formats” button to choose the book format they wish to read. Available formats are picture book, chapter book, early reader, and more or the “All Ages” button to choose the age recommendation for the book. Once a book is selected, users can read it by themselves; tap the “Play” button to have the tool read the book aloud however this feature is not available with all books, rate the book, or use the slide rule to advance through the book.

To give it a personalize touch users have to swipe the book to turn the pages. After reading the book or when ready, users can tap the “X” button to return to the main screen. From there, users can tap the “Magnifying Glass” button to search for books using key terms, and they can tap the “Heart” button to view books they marked as favorites. They can also tap the “Profile” button to access their reading log, see badges they earned for reading books, and view their reading stats.

Check out this video below to get a feel of the tool:

Compatibility:

The app is available for both Android and iOS and also it can be accessed over web based platform.

Pricing:

Epic! Offers free subscription for a month and is charged afterwards. After a month, users have to purchase a monthly subscription for $4.99.

Accolades:

The Royalty received speaks a lot of the quality service they provide. Listed below are the awards received by the Epic!

– Parents’ Choice Gold Award Spring 2016

– Creative Child Magazine 2014 Top App of the Year

– Mom’s Choice Award Winner

This app brings a virtual library of books to your kids’ fingertips. These beautiful graphic novels, text-heavy chapter books, read-to-me picture books, and longer audio books, there are thousands of titles for your kids with more titles added every week. If your kid is already an avid reader, there may be some favorite book series or authors they won’t find here; no app can cover them all. But the variety available on the paid subscription service is impressive. Other good thing is that time is tracked on the app. This way kids can see how much time they take to read in comparison to the estimated reading time given by the app. This encourages them to do better and improve their reading skills.

Epic! – Unlimited Books for Kids can definitely be worth the subscription price, especially if your kid is an avid reader. Share your experience of the tool with us in the comment section below.
